No indication of notability to pass WP:NCORP. WP:Run-of-the-mill gay bar with no distinguishing characteristics. Routine coverage and business listings in the local alt-weekly does not make it notable. Reywas92Talk 23:06, 8 December 2018 (UTC)

  • Keep per WP:GNG. User:Reywas92 has nominated several articles for deletion at once, so now I have to scramble to find sources for multiple subjects, but I believe there's sufficient coverage for an article. There are now 11 references in the article, and I've not even searched newspaper archives, local or otherwise. Sure, more sources are needed to help flesh out this article, but I believe there's a story to be told here about Seattle's oldest leather bar and longest operating gay bar. ---Another Believer (Talk) 01:50, 9 December 2018 (UTC)

  • Keep. Gay bars don't need "distinguishing characteristics" to be notable enough for Wikipedia articles, they just need enough reliable source coverage to clear WP:GNG. I'll grant that Another Believer did once undertake a misguided project of trying to start a single-sourced stub about every single gay bar that got blurbed in one isolated listicle — but they clearly learned from that, because they're trying much harder to source gay bars properly now and I've never been able to identify any serious problems with their work on gay bars since then. Bearcat (talk) 20:49, 10 December 2018 (UTC)
  • Delete: I agree with the rationale of the nominator. This establishment does not pass WP:GNG. Carajou (talk) 03:32, 12 December 2018 (UTC)
  • Weak keep Some of the sources in the article now have quite short references to this bar, but there are probably enough to meet WP:GNG. I found a few that aren't yet included in the article, too, from the Seattle Weekly [1], [2], though they might be considered local. RebeccaGreen (talk) 03:20, 15 December 2018 (UTC)

As claimed in the article this is a "proposal" and so constitutes original research. Also not a sufficiently notable topic. The Ford-Sidi algorithm alone is not notable, and we don't list it at List_of_algorithms#Interpolation_and_extrapolation. Insufficient coverage in reliable sources to meet WP:GNG, WP:NBIO. According to Google Scholar, the subject has an h-index of 1, which is not enough to meet WP:NACADEMIC. Given that the subject appears to have worked in a rather niche field (development of dentistry in the Philippines), I would not be opposed to draftifying the article, but the article's initial creator does not appear to be active and I didn't wan to risk the article being sent to the draftspace dustbin without anyone seeing it. signed, Rosguill talk 19:57, 7 December 2018 (UTC)

Non-article about a non-notable imagined or fantastic bit of science fiction from Robert L. Forward, no independent sourcing. After deletion, no objection to creation of a redirect to that page or any other suitable target if one can be found. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 00:02, 15 December 2018 (UTC)

  • Delete - completely agree with JLAN's assessment. Not enough in-depth coverage to show notability. Onel5969 TT me 00:45, 15 December 2018 (UTC)
  • Keep - I added some more information and references, there is potential to improve it more. That it hasn't been built (so far?) is not a deletion reason. --mfb (talk) 01:32, 15 December 2018 (UTC)
  • Delete - Even with the additional references, RS coverage appears to be minimal and does not establish notability for a standalone article. The existing section at Non-rocket spacelaunch is sufficient. –dlthewave 03:11, 15 December 2018 (UTC)
  • Merge to Non-rocket spacelaunch#Space_fountain. There are enough sources showing coverage [6][7][8][9] (and the primary but edited [10]) to support retention of something. Minsky speaks of the origination here. Also used in fiction by at least Pohl[11], and presumably Forward. It looks like a solid two paragraphs would be able to encapsulate coverage visible online, and that there isn't enough (without dragging in primary material) for a significantly lengthier article. ~Hydronium~Hydroxide~(Talk)~ 03:40, 15 December 2018 (UTC)
  • Keep A much lengthier article was recently deleted for COPYVIO, which is fair enough. However, it shows that the current contents are by no means the limit, and the existing references confer notability. GliderMaven (talk) 06:13, 15 December 2018 (UTC)
  • Copyvio appears to have been of this (non-copyvio link), which is a primary source but an edited one. Was there any sigcov not from that, which was deleted and/or can anyone identify any other RS secondary coverage that would reasonably allow for a significantly lengthier article? ~Hydronium~Hydroxide~(Talk)~ 07:23, 15 December 2018 (UTC)

Categories[edit]

December 15[edit]

NEW NOMINATIONS[edit]

Category:Churches in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Boise[edit]

Nominator's rationale: merge per WP:OVERLAPCAT, the Roman Catholic Diocese of Boise coincides with the state of Idaho. Marcocapelle (talk) 08:50, 15 December 2018 (UTC)

Churches by Eastern Christian denomination and city[edit]

Nominator's rationale: merge per WP:SMALLCAT, all the above categories contain only 1 or 2 articles. Marcocapelle (talk) 08:19, 15 December 2018 (UTC)

Category:Small Isles, Inner Hebrides[edit]

Nominator's rationale: At Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2018 November 2#Category:Small Isles I proposed using "Highland" to disambiguate but suggested "Inner Hebrides" as an alternative title, however the Small Isles in Argyll and Bute are also part of the Inner Hebrides[12]. I didn't realize that the Inner Hebrides was this far south and though it was more the islands around the Isle of Skye. Therefore while "Inner Hebrides" is more recognizable it doesn't disambiguate especially since the Argyll and Bute Small Isles were the main reason for this needing to be disambiguated. Crouch, Swale (talk) 06:51, 15 December 2018 (UTC)

Category:Volcanism of the Mediterranean[edit]

Nominator's rationale: To make the scope of the categories clearer - especially as some other categories (currently) use "Mediterranean" to refer to a larger area (e.g. see Category:Environment of the Mediterranean). DexDor (talk) 05:54, 15 December 2018 (UTC)
  • Ambivalent. I probably created the category anyway. Use whatever name is more appropriate. - Gilgamesh (talk) 06:04, 15 December 2018 (UTC)
  • Comment Is this category about the Mediterranean Sea or the Mediterranean Basin, the land region surrounding it? Dimadick (talk) 09:15, 15 December 2018 (UTC)

Category:IBM mobile phones[edit]

Nominator's rationale: Per WP:SMALLCAT. This category is unlikely to have more than one page, as IBM has made only one mobile phone, the IBM Simon. 99Electrons (talk) 02:13, 15 December 2018 (UTC)
  • Oppose as this is part of an established category structure (Category:Mobile phones by company) e.g. there's a similar category for Intel. Note: Upmerge would be more appropriate than straight delete. DexDor (talk) 06:03, 15 December 2018 (UTC)
  • Upmerge- a "category" with only one page is not really tenable. Besides this, there are several examples of products by companies who only ever made that one phone in the parent category. For instance, John's Phone. Reyk YO! 09:29, 15 December 2018 (UTC)

Category:Instruction Pipeline Architecture computer[edit]

Nominator's rationale: It is unclear what benefit this category provides; it's scope appears to be CPUs that have instruction pipelines, or for computers that have such CPUs (it is unclear what "Instruction Pipeline Architecture computer" means, as it is not an established term of art), which is seemingly arbitrary. Why not have categories such as "CPUs with multi-way set associative caches" or "CPUs with dynamic branch prediction"? The diversity and complexity of CPUs provides endless possible combinations of commonality. Articles about CPUs don't benefit from being categorized in this manner as one article could be categorized under hundreds of these categories. This category was created in July 2016, and at nomination, only has three pages. It would seem that editors don't approach categorization from the perspective of what features a CPU has, nor do readers when they navigate Wikipedia. 99Electrons (talk) 00:53, 15 December 2018 (UTC)

Redirects[edit]

December 15[edit]

Humbert Humphrey[edit]

This does not seem like a plausible typo. Humbert? No. No Humbert Humphrey. This redirect just seems unnecessary, IMO. Paper Luigi TC 09:22, 15 December 2018 (UTC)

Blue Wave 2018[edit]

Not an actual thing or a realistic search term. Walk Like an Egyptian (talk) 07:13, 15 December 2018 (UTC)

Wikipedia:IA[edit]

I request that this redirect be retargeted to Wikipedia:Interface administrators for a number of reasons, including consistency with other redirects for user rights (eg WP:PC links to pending changes, not wikiproject pokemon) and the fact that the current target, WikiProject Iowa, has been tagged as inactive since 2017-09-03 --DannyS712 (talk) 05:18, 15 December 2018 (UTC)

Elliott Frankl[edit]

WP:XY problem. This was originally redirected to 2006 Vaughan municipal election, because that was the current election he was running in at the time of the infamous VaughanWatch editwar that got this turned into a permanently protected redirect. However, he's also run as a candidate in at least two other Vaughan municipal elections besides 2006, so even in the unlikely event that somebody was actually searching for him there's no telling which election they would be looking for. Templates[edit]

December 15[edit]

Template:Infobox film festival[edit]

Propose merging Template:Infobox film festival with Template:Infobox theatre festival.

Very similar events, and most of the templates' collective parameters apply to either. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 14:49, 7 December 2018 (UTC)

  • Merge - seems (to me) that the only unique theatre only parameter is |play_type=, while others parameters in {{theatre festival}} not found in the film festival could be applied to it as well. Not sure what would be the final name. --Gonnym (talk) 16:42, 8 December 2018 (UTC)
  • Keep the templates are used in quite different ways and for different subject matter. I don't think it's helpful for editors to have them replaced or merged into one (confusing) super template. --Tom (LT) (talk) 00:09, 9 December 2018 (UTC)
  • Oppose theater and film are 2 fairly different mediums. I don't see any benefits to merging them. --Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 07:32, 9 December 2018 (UTC)
    • As usual, the issue is not how distinct the subjects are (and, while film and theatre are different, their festivals are not so much), but whether or not we need separate templates to describe them; doubly so for just 48 articles of one class. See also Gonnym's analysis of the parameters. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 11:19, 10 December 2018 (UTC)
  • Note: The overlap between the templates is exemplified by the fact that South East European Film Festival is using the theatre festival infobox - and has been since June 2015, before it was approved from Draft. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 11:25, 10 December 2018 (UTC)

Template:Infobox NFL Draft[edit]

Propose merging Template:Infobox NFL Draft with Template:Infobox sports draft.
So this is one where I'm actually on the fence... I'm all for Infobox consolidation but I have a feeling this might be a case for keeping a separate template. The NFL draft seems to have a number of parameters/fields that are unique to it. I'm thinking it might be good to add a few |custom= fields to {{Infobox sports draft}} and then make {{Infobox NFL Draft}} a custom wrapper? Seeking feedback... Template:Infobox flash series[edit]

Flash is a near-obsolete technology; and the technology used is in any case immaterial to the content which is the actual subject of relevant articles. Template is redundant to {{Infobox website}} (or possibly {{Infobox television series}} or {{Infobox film}}). Only 15 transclusions.
